Beyond Shelter

The forests we lost shaped the climate we inherited. The buildings we design today will shape the climate we leave behind.

Beyond Shelter is our research initiative exploring the next generation of regenerative buildings: buildings that do more than protect people from nature. They work with natural systems to support energy performance, water management, thermal comfort, biodiversity, carbon storage, and long-term resilience.

Our first concept, the Living Building Platform™, reimagines the building envelope as a dual-habitat system: a protected inner environment for people and an ecological outer layer designed to interact with air, water, sunlight, and living systems.

Through modular construction, measurable performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we are developing a practical pathway toward buildings that give back more than they take.
